The SEED Framework for Cultivating Creativity
The SEED Framework for Cultivating Creativity
"If the ultimate goal of education is to help students construct the best possible future, then educators need to construct a new vision for creativity. The SEED Framework brings that vision to life!" (Ricci, 2019)
The SEED Famework is structured around four pathways that guide and support creative thinking and action. For many students, creativity can often feel intimidating and ambiguous, so these pathways help make the process of creativity visible and accessible. Creativity is such a complex idea and SEED puts it into simple terms that students and educators can now understand.
As students analyze and collect project documentation, they tag each artifact with a SEED block.
At the end of the project, students create a SEED graphic to make their process visible. This step allows for conversation, feedback, and next steps in process development.
The SEED framework reinforces the idea that creativity is a process that can be learned, it comes in many forms, and requires specific habits of mind. You can learn more about the outcomes here.
